What is SHA256?

How to verify the authenticity of the installer files

With the increasing risks in cybersecurity, it is crucial for us to assist our customers in safeguarding their systems and protecting the sensitive data of their patients.

To help ensure the authenticity of our installers, we've provided the "SHA256 Checksum" of our files so you can verify the integrity of our installers before installing our software.

What is a "SHA256 Checksum"?

A SHA256 Checksum can be simply defined as a type of digital fingerprint. We provide you the long string of numbers and letters. Once you've downloaded the installer, you can check if the string of numbers/letters match. If they do match, then you know that it is highly unlikely that the file was modified before you received it.

How do I use a "SHA256 Checksum"?

  1. Once you've downloaded the installer, there are a variety of tools that can extract the SHA256 Checksum. We recommend talking with your IT administrator for help. Otherwise, both Windows and MacOS have native command prompt/terminal commands that you can search online on how to use.
    1. "certutil -hashfile" for Windows 11
    2. "shasum" for MacOS
  2. Once you've extracted the string of letters/numbers, compare the string to the ones provided on our Download page: www.invivoworkspace.com/downloads
  3. If you believe your installer's SHA256 Checksum doesn't match, please do not install the software and contact your IT team. Additionally, please let us know by contacting our support team (support@osteoidinc.com).
